1964 Chevrolet Corvette – Original

1964 Chevrolet Corvette – Original

Description

A true survivor of the 60’s, this ‘64 Corvette Stingray is presented by the owner as a numbers matching original.   This coupe has simple, three owner history of exceptional care.  It was purchased new and lived most of its life in Tempe, Arizona. From there it moved to Kansas for a few years before traveling east of the Mississippi to be stabled on a Kentucky a horse farm.

The car is finished in correct Sebring Silver over Black vinyl with the second owner freshening up the paint in a base coat/clear coat system.  The current owner did indicate that the ‘Corvette Sting-Ray’ badge area of the rear deck shows some clear coat peeling. With the paint checking out we can see the exterior trim of exceptional quality with badges, handles, antenna, bumpers and chroming all original and in fine condition. The underside of the rear bumper does show chrome peeling as is common. The headlamps, side markers, taillights, and all glass are also fully original to the car as well as the perfect aluminum knock off wheels.

The factory original 327/300hp is backed up by its matching automatic transmission and shows 70,000 miles of gentle use. This spirited coupe is also pleasantly optioned with a Holley carburetor, factory air conditioning, and factory radio. All of these options along with every other mechanical component under the hood have been maintained as original or OEM.

Turning to the interior, it should be no surprise that it too is completely original and shows relatively little wear. The current owner did indicate that the driver door panel is retained despite  two small tears because of its high level of originality. Seat covers, rugs, trim, instruments, bezels and controls are original to the car as well and are all in wonderful cosmetic and functional order.

Up on the lift, we see exactly what would be expected from a completely original car.  Faded paint and the patina of time is on display with all mechanical components correctly cared for properly sorted.  Exhaust pipes have been replaced at some point and it appears that during a bottom end inspections, the oil pan was quickly painted.

With 70,000 original miles, this Stingray is a fine example for anyone wanting a driver or showpiece for the driveway.  The current owner purchased the car last year and reported no repairs or care were required other than fluid replacement and preparing for winter storage. We can say with high confidence that the owner is a true collector and only represents the finest available. As you all know, the market is demanding higher and higher levels of originality and this original will certainly not disappoint.
