1966 Chevrolet Corvette 427/425

1966 Chevrolet Corvette 427/425

From a private collection is this numbers matching, beautiful Original 427/425 Corvette. A verified numbers matching and absolutely complete find, the car was painstakingly refreshed in 2005 to be a truly exceptional example of an original car.

Originally from Connecticut, this car was located in Yarmouth, Maine for the owner by renowned Corvette restorer and NCRS certified judge Goodwin Hannaford of Hollis, Maine who thoroughly researched the vehicle’s authenticity, consulted on the purchase and brought the vehicle to its present state through a 2005 refurbishment.

The car was returned to the correct Nassau Blue over original Black leather. The exterior of the vehicle shows excellent fit and finish with no dings, scuffs or scratches.  All chrome, badges and trim are 100% original, unrestored, and in excellent condition.

Purchased as an investment, the engine and drivetrain were thoroughly scoped, inspected, and fluids analyzed prior to purchase.  The original 427/425 mill sends power through its numbers matching 4 speed to the rear differential and on to the original and cosmetically perfect aluminum knock offs.

The engine and driveline of the car are entirely original with only a thorough detailing being performed to maintain the highest level of originality. The  carburetor and distributor were serviced with OEM and NOS components to return them to as new condition (the car even has the original plug wires). The car has resided with the rest of the collection in a climate-controlled facility since purchase and has been periodically serviced and exercised to its mere 23,300 miles to maintain proper running condition.

The interior is 100% original to the car and is in exceptional condition with only a couple of minor scuffs on the door sill covers worthy of noting. Rugs, door panels and seating surfaces are all original and flawless. The gauges all function properly and along with the bezels and console are in excellent cosmetic condition.

With the care and attention shown in the original work by Mr. Hannaford there was no surprise that it started on the first bump of the key and purred as we marshalled between shooting locations.  It goes without saying that mechanically, the vehicle is flawless with no reported or observes leaks or issues. All dials, switches, gauges and controls function correctly.

As part of the Iron Age team, we try to remain neutral in our assessments, but in this instance, I cannot. The fit, finish, and overall condition of this vehicle stands head and shoulders above other original cars we represent.  Everything about it from the paint, to the underbody, to the console is exceptional. The doors even close with the satisfying clunk that I expect from a new Volvo, not a 53 year old car. If you have been wanting a C2 Corvette for a week, a month or even a decade, this is a truly a special car.
